These dual charts show the difference in the house system and the chart of cosmobiology in the horoscope of Reinhold Ebertin. To the trained eye of the traditionist eventually one would be able to see the different aspects between the planets but with Cosmobiology the picture is an instant one. See below:
Example:

This way aspects that are strong show up immediately such as:
- Conjuction
- Oppositions
- Squares
- Semisquares
- SesquiQuadrate
The art of interpretation then becomes simple. We not only see what our natal potential is, we also see at a glance, the positions of the planets as they move around in the sky, and how they affect our daily living. Cosmobiologist’s also use a technique called. The Solar Arc, which will be explained in detail. (However, the charts above are the natal chart only at this stage.)
Taking a look at Ebertin’s natal chart, we see that on the day he was born the sun was in Aquarius, born on 16th February 1901 in Goelitz, Germany at 4.40am. It is often said that Aquarian’s are born before their time and are among the most original thinkers. People born under this sign can be a free spirit. Not so much into personal considerations but more into humanity as a whole.
They are the people with vision and the reformers of the zodiac. Ebertin was typical of his sun sign. A man of vision, able to discover and reform, long before reform was acceptable. He is the man credited with unraveling this amazing system called Cosmobilogy.
In an article written after his death in 1988, his son Baldur Ebertin had this to say about his father’s work:
“Cosmobiology works with a cosmic factor, but includes other disciplines in its analysis. Highest ranking among these were psychology, medicine, theology and the natural sciences. He envisioned Cosmobiology as an extended serious astrology interwoven with humanities, the social sciences and the natural sciences.”
In other words to make accurate predictions, we must consider not only the psychology of a persons natal chart, but also the hereditary factors and the social, cultural and environmental world in which one lives.
Ebertin was able to grasp the essentials of predicting life’s experiences and provide a solid foundation for us to follow. His simple teaching methods have helped thousands of people all over the world take charge of their lives.
Australian astrologer, Doris Greaves, was one of the first to take Cosmobiology outside Germany. Subsequently the system was taken to England by Charles Harvey and to America, by Eleanor Kimmel. Later, it was introduced to New Zealand by Hamish Saunders and the late Roy Avis. Although people in other countries do use Cosmobiology, these are the strongest bases.
The important thing to understand about Cosmobiology is that the emphasis is placed on the 30 degree’s allocated to each sign of the zodiac and these degrees are vital to understanding the system. It is the movement of the planets around these degrees that lead us to being able to pinpoint the positive and negative periods in our life and use these elements accordingly
