We can look back on the last century with complete confidence when we say, it was a century of phenomenal events and phenomenal people.
Each one of us could list at least a dozen people, who we admired and felt that in some way their lifestyles, their actions, contributed in some way to our own growth and development.
As an astrologer, one of the most admired people at the top of my list, would be German Cosmobiologist, Reinhold Ebertin and, despite never having met him, I was able to use his astrological system to enhanced my life, which has lead me, on an amazing journey to greater strength and wisdom.
The man behind the legend was a warm humanitarian, with a strict and logical adherence to facts. These facts, which he combined in a practical way, made a glance into the future a simple process. Cosmobiology made it so easy, to see what was happening and what was about to happen in our lives. This system gained much support from astrologers all over the world.
In the year 2001, we celebrated 100 years of his birth. This remarkable man was born on the 16th February 1901 at Goerlitz in Germany at 4.40 am. His mother, Elsbeth began to study astrology in her 20’s and quickly found that she had a gift for predicting future events. It seems she took up the study, to help her ease the loneliness from a painful divorce where she had to relinquish custody of the young Reinhold, to his father and grandfather. In later years her son confirmed that she was a very lonely lady and, overcame this loneliness by expressing it in poetry and cosmic laws.
At around 16 years of age he and his mother got together and she introduced him to his horoscope. She was fully reunited with him at the age of 21 and so began in earnest, his astrological studies.
Ebertin’s first book, “Transits, What Day is Favourable for Me”, was published in 1928. Ebertin met his wife, Luise Engbet at an Astrological Conference in Nuremberg in 1929 and, they married later that year. Their only son, Baldur was born in 1933. Astrology had many upheavals in those emerging years leading up to the great depression and the Second World War. At one stage Ebertin was incarcerated and his books confiscated. Luckily for us, he was released, but sadly his mother was not so lucky. She was killed in a bomb raid in the city of Freiburg.
So what made this man so special? Born in February, he undoubtedly subscribed to Aquarian philosophy, which is, primarily to make the world a better place. Aquarians are the thinkers of the zodiac and, are often ahead of their time being that their thoughts and ideas are often hard for others to follow. Fortunately for us, Ebertin was able to harness this genius and leave a legacy of astrological tools, designed to enhance and improve one’s living conditions.
It is no surprise that he is described as, ,The Father of Cosmobiology’, with the strong Capricornian flavour in his chart. The Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and the Ascendant are all in this sign, which is favourable for achieving material success. However, success does not come easy and needs to be earned. One has to make sacrifices, which means giving up many normal every day, distractions and pleasures.
Strong Capricorn qualities in a chart, makes one conscientious and, blessed with a strong sense of duty. These people usually conduct their affairs on a conventional line with due regard for tradition, law and order. Mercury in the sign of Pisces adds a touch of compassion and gives way to amazing ideas and philosophies. This position can also give a great understanding of human nature. Venus in Aquarius made him tolerant, idealistic and an independent thinker. The planet Mars, in the sign of Virgo, gave him a keenness for detail and excellent analytical powers.
Reinhold Ebertin had a very balanced horoscope, which enabled him to endure the many difficulties that life dealt him and in the process was able to share with us the enormous gift of knowledge and wisdom. Cosmobiology is a very simplistic approach to astrology. The cardinal, fixed and mutable signs, are put into their quadruplicates, on a 90-degree dial and, in this way all the conjunctions, squares, oppositions, semi-squares and sesiquaderates come together. Once the natal chart is superimposed on the 90-degree dial, the planets and personal points can be gauged against the solar arc, progressions and transits and quickly form a picture. One can instantly see where one is in life and make the necessary adjustment, so as to have a more informed and enhanced life style.
Cosmobiology has a very distinct benefit in that the patterns in the natal chart show up straight away and give a good guide to our potential. Ebertin had two major patterns that stood out. Mercury square to Uranus, and to Pluto. In his natal chart this signified his inclination to discover and reform. He grasped the essentials and provided for them, solid foundations. The reduction of orbs to one degree also increased the exactness of predictive work. His elimination of the houses avoided any speculative interpretations and the evaluation of aspects and, half-sums added another dimension to his work.
For over 60 years he was a true pioneer in the world of astrology. He was prepared to stand up for what he believed in. Cosmobiology has always had it’s knockers, however, the cream always rises to the top. The Ebertin system stands alone, thanks to Reinhold’s discipline and determination.
Doris Greaves, here in Australia, was one of the first people to bring Cosmobiology to the world. This system of astrology has transformed my life and I am extremely grateful for learning the system. From a humble housewife to life on the national and international stage,
REINHOLD EBERTIN A MAN OF THE CENTURY
