Great Britain promised the greatest show on earth for the 2012 Olympiad and they duly saluted as the games came to a close on the evening of Sunday 12th August, 2012. From the moment Queen Elizabeth said, “Good Evening Mr Bond,” at the opening ceremony, the tone was set.
I forced myself to sit down and watch the opening ceremony thinking, “Ho Hum, just another Olympic Games Ceremony, but within the space of a few minutes I was mesmerized. Neptune in Pisces had delivered.
Alexander Ruperti in his book, “Cycles of becoming,” said the Uranus represents the vision of the greater whole of which each of us is part, and Neptune refers to the effort of collective organization or the basis of maximum inclusiveness.”
The day Great Britain appointed Oscar-wining film producer, Danny Boyle in charge of the opening and closing ceremonies, their success was assured. This man had a vision of the greater whole and made it a reality.
Whilst formulating his plan for the games he was able to take strength of Uranus in Aries and bring it to it’s zenith as Neptune in Pisces gave us a visionary mystical oneness.
Australia is a great sporting nation and we love to win. So; it was off to London on a wing and a prayer that our swimmers and athletes would do exceptionally well as usual. However; if we take a look at the predictions for the three months from the Cancer Ingress starting on June 21st 2012, the picture is not so bright.
With Pluto and Uranus making it’s first square to the mid-point of Australia’s Sun/Saturn on this Ingress, it stood to reason that our chances of making a big splash at least in the pool, was not going to happen.
In Ebertin’s book, “The Combination of Stellar Influences” the interpretation of this aspect is a transformation, over excitement of the nerves and the collapse of the old order of things. It also tells us that it can bring foolhardiness and upsets. Sadly; this proved correct as our swimming champions failed dismally on the day. Towards the end of the games things picked up and our athletes and other sports people managed to bring home some gold.
Of course on July 1st Australia introduced the controversial carbon tax, so transformation was certainly taking place in politics as well. This was a very unpopular decision and got on the wrong side of most Australian’s. There are five more aspects of the Uranus/Pluto square to effect Australia’s chart so time will tell how the nation fared.
History will now tell us though, that Great Britain, got these games right, with no doubt a little help from our friend, the universe. For things to go well, the stars must align at the right time. Timing is everything however; sometimes we only have a window of opportunity that lasts for a moment in time.
The positive side of the Uranus/Pluto square sees creative energy, a strong awareness of purpose and of objective. Endurance and the attainment of goals and plans by immense application of effort and this was certainly the case for the Olympic committee.
When we look to the heavens for guidance, there is always something that we can do with the energies no matter how tough they look and then suddenly, we see that the alignments we envisaged to be negative, can be productive.
Danny Boyle took us on a truly magical Neptune inspired journey through historical events, starting with a taste of British history and pop culture and don’t we just love it when a plan comes together.
The subjects were very diverse but showed off Neptune’s higher octave of artistic creativity and spiritual progress as we travelled through the Industrial Revolution, the National Health Service, popular children’s book characters including Mary Poppins and Peter Pan and peppered with pop stars galore.
They say it was an attempt to capture a picture of the British nation, where they came from and where they wanted to be and as Prime Minister, David Cameron said, “We have to celebrate all that is good about the past but also the potential Britain has in the future.”
He went on to say, “the difficulty is how do you cram all that is great about our country, whether it is sport, art, literature, history, contribution to world events, into the program?” Well; whatever they did it worked. A truly amazing job, with a cast of thousands.
There were so many gems. Boyle captured the heart of Neptune’s influence with his story telling. Both ceremonies had all the positive elements of Neptune, glamour, illusion, escapism, impressionability, and mysticism by the truck load.
He created a spectacle on a global scale and as we moved through the images of both the opening and closing ceremony, the passion and genius of the man shone through.
Someone once said, “The Olympic games embodies the spirit of keen but friendly competition and should uphold and draw inspiration from the noble principles of sporting competition,” and may it always be so.
